Asher John

We are happy to anounce the birth of our son Asher John. He is 7 pounds 6 ounces and 19 inches long. Jenn started having contractions at 6 am this morning. She decided that we should drop off Abe at our friends, the Johnsons. He was so excited because he loves being at their house - big kids, fun toys and a dog. We arrived at the hospital at 10:00am. Jenn labored until 12:30 when the contractions became more intense. At 1:10 her water was broke and then after 20 minutes of intense pushing Asher came out crying! His due date was not until May 12 but the Lord knew when was the best time for him to come. Jenn and Asher are doing great.

If you are wondering about the name Asher, here are some Bible verses that explain his name and the blessings that we hope for his life. And John is the name of two godly men from the New Testament and Jenn's father and my late Grandpa Meengs, both men who we respect and admire.

Genesis 30:13
Then Leah said, "How happy I am! The women will call me happy." So she named him Asher. [a]

a] Asher means happy.
Genesis 49:20

Thanks for sharing in our joy.
